Dodgers 14 - A's 4
In the second game, the Dodgers benefited from a depleted A's line-up, bettering the A's 14-4 in 4 innings. A's stalwart Ben Fuhrmann was on the short end of defensive help and run support as the A's were missing 6 players who were out of town for the holiday weekend. The Dodgers big inning came in the 3rd as they sent 12 batters to the plate. Fuhrmann faced the first 3 Dodgers in that inning before leaving with soreness in his right elbow. Mixing in 6 walks and 3 hits, the Dodgers plated 9 in the inning.
The Dodgers return to action Tuesday afternoon with a 4:30 game against the Giants. The Giants won their first meeting with the Dodgers 4-2 behind stellar pitching from Mark Odegard and Jason Mair. A loss to the Giants would leave the Dodgers with a lot of ground to make up against the league leading Cubs who have not lost since dropping the season opener to the Dodgers
